The larger gourds are rare. Not many
artist like taking the 6 or 8 weeks to carve one so large. Teofila is very
proud of her large ones and talked me into buying several of them from her. They are
more expensive then the smaller standard Peruvian gourds, but well worth
it.
It might be a little too large
for displaying on a shelf, you can display the large gourds on plant
stands. My Grandmother keeps one on the floor in the corner of the
dinning room.

The gourd
is completely covered with scenes of Quechua Indians and llamas in the
Peruvian Andes. The pictures do not do justice to the fine intricate
details on each gourd.
These
gourds were etched by Teofila. She was born in the Andes
Mountains and now lives in Lima, Peru. Teofila has a little
stand on the side of the road and is always very happy to see
us. We buy many gourds from her and gladly offer her above
average prices.
